Finding Profitable Items to Sell on eBay

by William Saluto

In order for us to sell on eBay we must find a product that will make us a reasonable profit. This can prove to be the hardest obstacle to overcome in business.

Where To Find Profitable Products To Sell

We must do our research to find out what products are "hot" on eBay. We can do this through eBay's informative website: eBaypulse. Another website that might help us find which products are hot, is the shopping dot com consumer demand guide index. These sites provide us information that shows which items are hot or not. Once we find items that fit our niche (the most popular niche items tend be clothing, consumer electronics, collectibles, it must pass through our profit per sales filter:

Questions We Must Ask to Filter Bad Products:

  • If I bought the item from a store, or flea market, will I make a profit from it?
  • Are there a variety of sellers selling this item? Or just a select dominant few?
  • Is my feedback score high enough for the consumer to put their trust and buy this item?
  • How long has this item been hot? Do the sells seem to be increasing or decreasing?
  • Are these items selling "brand-new" or "used"? or both?

Most of the time will be dedicated to the continuous research of products. After the item passes our filter, we must find a place to buy our item from. There are many places where we can get our items including, our own home (the average house holds $100,000 of junk in their house), flea markets, wholesale on eBay, wholesale stores that sell in bulk such as Costco, local liquidators/auctions, and dropshipping networks as well. You can also find great items on Craigslist.org.

All ways are proven methods, but whichever way we choose, it is highly important that we buy an item with 100% certainty that it will sell for profit (even after pay-pal transaction fees and eBay fees) It can be tedious work, but the hard-work will definitely pay off in due time.
